What I Love about the First Page-ish...

What I Love about the First Page-ish of Ginny Sterling’s LAWFULLY WILD

1) It’s an interesting choice to begin a romance/romantic book with severe vomiting and/or diarrhea, but I love the way that Melanie begins the book at her all-time low, and things only get worse.  That’s the perfect time to meet a one true love!

2) There are all kinds of readers, of course, but I love the way the author makes a bit of a stand-in for the person who is reading the book.  Yes, many readers are all about emerging technologies and the like, but the kind of person who sits down to read an actual book is more likely to love activities and things related to “the timelessness of another era.”

3) It occurs to me that there’s another positive in beginning with an ill protagonist.  Melanie is literally empty.  She’s purged all of the “contaminants” and is down twelve pounds of water weight.  With so much new emptiness in her, she has more room for the love she will find.
