Novels are like a marriage: they offer deep and lasting pleasure. Short stories (and novelettes and novellas) are like a fling you know won’t last forever: fun and potent.
Here are some of the short stories I’ve written. I hope that you like them enough to give my longer works a whirl.
The Immortal Part of Myself
A decade ago, Ambhyr earned viral infamy when she livestreamed a video of herself shooting and killing her none-too-bright boyfriend. (Boomer thought the bulletproof vest he made would protect him.) After a decade of hard work and ruthless self-discipline, Ambhyr became Catherine, an engineer and single mother who thought she had no interest in dating until Robert came along.
Unfortunately, Kay’lah, her fourteen-year-old daughter, is making some of the same mistakes Catherine made in her youth, giving away too much of herself for the approval of boys. Can Catherine keep her daughter on the straight-and-narrow while nurturing the new and exciting romance she thought she would never experience?
This novelette unspools the story of a loving mother who learned lessons the hard way and a willful teenage daughter who, of course, thinks she knows best.

When Madison Park and the World Were Sunshine

Ever wonder what happened to your first love?
The narrator of this short story feels the obligation to tell the world the true history of his college girlfriend. Madison Park was an artist whose work made the worldwide news…but for bittersweet reasons.
Madison was as kind as she was beautiful. Her father, himself a prominent sculptor, did his best to shield his daughter from the ugliest parts of humanity, but he couldn’t stop Madison from fulfilling her tragic destiny as an artist.
