1) Let’s face it: unfortunately, far more women than men will read Lost to You. We should still try to get more of our books into mens’ hands, which is why I love that the book begins from the male protagonist’s perspective and with a man appreciating a beautiful woman.
2) I love the differentiation between “cute” and “sexy.” Christian is appreciating Elizabeth on multiple levels, which is good for characterization (Elizabeth is complicated, like a real person) and for romance itself (we can’t truly love someone until we understand a great deal of who they are).
3) Look at the “it was her” part. Ms. Jackson repeats the line later, which is helpful to hammer home the effect. There’s something Christian isn’t telling us. The secret makes the reader want to keep going until he or she learns what happened between the two young people.
