What I Love about the First Page-ish...

What I Love about the First Page-ish of Lorhainne Eckhart’s IT WAS ALWAYS YOU

1) That first paragraph is an interesting one.  Most of the time, the whole point of a novel is to depict a character working toward the point here he or she can feel peace and certainty.  Katy is already there.

2) On second thought, I don’t think Katy is in a very good place.  She recently chopped her hair off with “rusty kitchen shears” and there’s a reason she isn’t caring for Fletcher.

3) I kinda love how Katy’s father is a tough, callused rancher, but he still pulls her close and kisses the top of her head.  Isn’t it great when men have great strength and great tenderness?
