
1) Well, I love the chapter title. If we want our stories to be compelling, there must be some stakes involved. The protagonist must be in some kind of peril, emotional physical or otherwise. It seems that we’ve dropped into the middle of a story in which the protagonist has no more second chances…DRAMA!
2) I love the “I needed her to believe me.” We don’t yet know why Harper needs this, but it’s such delightful characterization. She’s demonstrating complicated psychology.
3) I liked the bit with the sapphire pendant. The action itself communicates Harper’s unease, and I had the feeling that the pendant would have some significance to the story. Perhaps it belonged to her mother and/or has some power.
