1) It’s not the most action-packed beginning, but I love how strongly most of us can identify with not wanting to exercise in the extreme heat or to wear workout clothing around people who are in way better shape.
2) I love how cinematic nature of the opening. We picture Avery in her car, trying to figure out how she’ll avoid working out…then we laugh when we see the scene from Morgan’s perspective as she spies on her friend.
3) Referring back to number two, I love how the author/narrator plants the humorous image of Morgan’s impatience in our heads, only to have it negated by reality. Comedy is all about shifts in status; Avery goes from in control to out of control.
