1) The author wastes no time in establishing the romantic lead. Roman is rich. A great athlete. He must have a hardbody because he’s a pro football player. What’s not to love?
2) I love the contrast between Roman and his “world.” Though he has tons of money and can afford the best of everything, he prefers driving a great big pickup truck and tries to avoid ostentations, phony ceremony.
3) There’s a “poor little rich boy” vibe to the opening of the novel. Roman has been privileged his whole life and knows it. The way he is described, the reader really wants him to find a down-to-earth, normal woman. (And most readers of this novel, I’ll wager, consider themselves down-to-earth and normal…)
