1) The novel begins with a nice literal representation of the protagonist’s status quo. Kami is literally unable to make a leap of faith. She’s literally unable to trust others enough to accomplish a goal…to move on in such a way that leaves her different and better.
2) The bits about Brian the ex are a little bit of an exposition dump, but the author gets away with it by tying her Brian problem directly to the little scene in which we’re immersed.
3) I love how the skydiving instructor “broke up” with the protagonist. If Kami is not at rock bottom, then she will be soon. That’s when her narrative can go on the upswing.
